I just found the heavy whipping cream in my bedroom! So what’s the first thing any homeschooling blogging momma does? Well, write a post about my thoughts on this experience(while enjoying my cup of coffee), of course.
Here’s what happened:
I’m sitting at my computer, trying to figure out what to do to improve my blog, when I decide I need a cup of coffee for this task. I get up to refill the Keurig, start my coffee, and grab the heavy whipping cream from the fridge. Then it occurs to me I need to put my son’s laundry in the dryer.
Upon returning to the kitchen I grab my coffee and go to add the cream, but it’s not there.
I look in the pantry, the cabinets, even the trash can. Then I look in the fridge, reasoning that maybe I just thought about grabbing the cream. Don’t laugh, you’ve been there too! Anyway, It’s not there. At this point, I think I might possibly be losing my mind. I close the fridge door, stand up, and look straight ahead trying to figure out this mystery. That’s when I spot it. Right where I left it. On the shelf in my bedroom.
For some particular reason still unknown to me I set the cream down in my bedroom on the way to the laundry room. So, I go get the cream, finish making my coffee, and as I take a much-needed sip I realize how thankful I am that I can never lose my salvation.
God’s Word says:
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.” John 10:28-29
What a joyful, peace-bringing fact. God is so good to His children!
However, while I can’t lose my salvation, Praise the Lord, my relationship with God can be damaged. Not through anything God does, but because of my own willful behavior. This happens when I seek my own fleshly desires and follow my own path, not the path God has for me.
My sinful behavior is an affront to a just, righteous, and holy God. God has called us to be a holy, living sacrifice. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1 “Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:16
So, when I have damaged my relationship with God, I must pray and confess my sin and ask God’s forgiveness. He is a gracious forgiving Father. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 “The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.” Psalm 145:8
God will be there waiting with open arms, ready to forgive me. He never left me, I’m the one who strayed from His ways. The best way for my life. “…for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5 “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Deuteronomy 31:6
I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do. It reminds me of how good God is to me even though I don’t deserve it. He truly is everything that my soul ever longed for!
Father God, thank you so much for your promise to never leave nor forsake me. Thank you for your never-ending love and grace. Most of all thank you for Your Son and His sacrifice to secure my eternal salvation. You are so good to me!
In Your Holy Precious Son’s Name,
